Chook Sangers for Smoko, Mate?
QER recently had a group of visitors to our site from the U.S. and Canada. The group were keen to see our plant and infrastructure and were interested in finding out more about QER’s work in the local community.
The visitors were very impressed with our site, especially the green spaces, native trees, plants and animals. They also spotted their first kangaroos and were impressed with Gladstone. They commented on how well big industries and the community lived and worked in harmony together, which is a credit to our very livable industrial city and its people.
Our visitors were also able to take in the delightful seafood that Gladstone has to offer whilst overlooking the harbour. Fresh mudcrab, bugs, calamari and reef fish were just some of the delicacies they enjoyed for the first time – a fine selection of seafood that we are so lucky to have available to us on our doorstep here in Gladstone.
Our visitors also enjoyed the unique local lingo we often use and take for granted. Smoko, Arvo, Chook, Sanger, Esky and Hard Yakka to name a few terms that had to be explained.
