Testing Today for Tomorrow
There is plenty happening in the laboratory as we support the active technical program currently underway on site.
Our job is, in simple terms, to heat up rocks. Of course, there is a little more to it than that. Mel and Sam are busy testing the Kerogen oil shale rock from QER’s different tenements. It turns out that shales aren’t just shales, they can all behave differently.
By changing things like temperature, heating rates, and pressure, we see what happens to the shale and what it produces. At the end of the process, we’re looking at the distillate (oil and water), the gas and what’s left of the rock.
It might all happen on a small scale in the lab but the information we gather helps build a much bigger picture. The results and trends we are building support the wider technical program and help inform the design and operation of a future commercial-scale development.
It’s not quite magic, but Mel and Sam might tell you otherwise.
