The End (and Beginning) of an Era for QER
I wanted to take the opportunity of this month’s “Fuel for Thought” column to advise you of a leadership change at QER. I am retiring shortly, and we have hired Warren Wyld to take up the position of General Manager. I’ll officially hand the baton over to Warren on the 8th of June, and after a couple of months handover, will remain on the QER Board as director.
Warren brings over 20 years’ experience in technical, operational and project roles, developing major energy investments in Australia, the US and the UK, most recently with leading Australian energy producer Woodside Petroleum. He is well positioned to lead our team as we ramp up our commercial project development activities.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nigel and his Gladstone team who have always been fantastic to work with. They have shared our vision to make sure our kids and grandkids have the same quality of life we’ve enjoyed, by developing an important new source of fuel for Australia’s future.
I also want to thank all those I’ve worked with in Gladstone over the years. I first came here when my daughter was six months old. Now she’s 26! I’ve always enjoyed being here. It’s the engine room of the State and I’ve met many wonderful, kind and capable Gladstone people. I have made great friends who will be friends for life. I’m very pleased that QER will be in good hands with Warren. He’s a good bloke: very smart, very experienced and very committed to the community and people part of the job.
I want to wish Warren all the best in his new role and I’m sure that he will receive the warm welcome and support that I’ve always found is the hallmark of the Gladstone community.
