Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi, Oi, Oi!
Just like me, I imagine there are a lot of people cheering on the Aussies at the Olympics. I still find it fantastic that such a small population of people can provide so many champions across many different sports on the world stage.
Behind everyone of these athletes there are unsung heroes: Mums, Dads and guardians, that support these kids and their dreams. Early mornings, evening training sessions, weekends travelling across the country to attend events to name just a few.
Our region has contributed lots of athletes over the years across many different sports but a special mention must go to Jack Cartwright who won a silver medal in swimming. Jack’s father Brad worked with QER in Gladstone and we are happy for Jack and his family in his success. It takes a lot of hard work and sacrifices by all to make achievements like this.
Congratulations to all who are competing as it is a great feat regardless of whether a medal is won or not.
