Dr Chris Rawlings
Chairman
BSc (Hons) - Geology, PhD - Structural Geology and Rock Mechanics.
Chris was Managing Director and CEO of South Blackwater Coal Ltd and QCT Resources Ltd prior to taking up Non-Executive Director roles.
Chris is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the Geological Society of Australia and the Institute of Company Directors.
Chris’ previous offices included time as Director at Gympie Gold Ltd, AMC, MC, Magnetica Ltd, QTC Resources Ltd, Queensland Mining Council, Australian Coal Research, World Coal Institute, Non Executive Director at Uniquest and as Chairman at Diversified Mining Services and Northern Energy Corporation Ltd. He is also a former Chair of the Queensland Resources Council.
Graduating from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology, Chris then went on to complete a PhD in Structural Geology and Rock Mechanics.
Pearce Bowman
Non-Executive Director

Pearce has over 40 years experience in the engineering and resource sector with a career spanning the mineral extraction and power generation industries.
He worked previously as the Executive Chairman and CEO of PMI Gold Corporation, CEO of Australian Power & Energy Ltd (now Monash Energy), Executive GM of WMC Resources Ltd and CEO of Generation Victoria. This followed a series of senior management roles in the resources sector in Canada and Australia.
Pearce has also served as a board member on several developing resource companies and as President or Chairman on various mineral industry and community associations.
He has served as Member of the Electricity Reform Taskforce of the Business Council of Australia, Executive Member of Minerals Council of Australia, Member of the Premier’s Roundtable (SA), President of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, Deputy Chairman of the SA Resources Taskforce, Member of the South Australian Development Council and as President of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Mines.
Graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) and a Master of Engineering Science, Pearce has also received a Masters of Business Administration (Advanced) from the University of Adelaide.
Michael Arnett
Non-Executive Director

Michael Arnett is the chairman and director of a number of mining companies and has over 20 years legal experience capital raising and in the corporate side of the mining and energy sectors. Michael has been a non-executive director of QER since 2006.
Michael services a range of publicly listed clients in the property, technology, manufacturing and resource sectors with operations in Australia, Asia and Africa. He has served on the board of New Guinea Energy Ltd and Azon Energy Ltd, Nexus Energy Ltd, Cloncurry Mines Ltd, NRW Holdings Ltd and SEQ Water Ltd. He is also a former director of Archipelago Resources Ltd.
Graduating from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce, Michael has been involved in significant corporate and commercial legal work for the resources industry for over 25 years. He has extensive commercial experience in capital raisings, corporate, mergers and acquisitions and securities work.
He is a former Partner and currently consultant to the international law firm Norton Rose in the mining, resources and oil and gas areas.
Dr Peter Zambelli
General Manager
BSc (Hons) - Geology; M. Hum Res Mgt; PhD - Management
Originally a geologist Peter has worked in the Australian resources industry for over 25 years, including ten with global miner Rio Tinto and over twelve years with QER. In addition to his work as geologist, Peter has worked in the areas of management, organisational development, and stakeholder relations.
Peter joined QER management team in 2007. He had previously worked in the resources sector as an independent consultant, and prior to that with the Rio Tinto Group in Australia and Asia. Within QER he has previously carried responsbility for organisational development, environment, strategy and planning support, policy and systems development and stakeholder relations.
Peter graduated from the University of Wollongong with a BSc (Hons) Geology, and a Masters in Human Resources Management from Griffith University and a PhD in Management from the University of Queensland.
Jannie Grové
Technical Director
M Eng (Chem), MBA, PhD, RPEQ
Over a career spanning 30 years, Jannie has worked in South Africa, Australia and North America and developed a strong background in project development and plant operations.
He has held several executive and senior management roles in the resources sector, with specific experience in the kerogen shale, coal-to-liquids, cement, alumina, vinyl chloride monomer and ethylene production industries.
Jannie is a RPEQ registered professional engineer and his academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pretoria (South Africa), MBA from Northwest University (South Africa) and a PhD from the University of Queensland (Australia).
John Linden
Manager Resources and Environment

John is the Senior Site Executive (SSE) at QER’s portfolio of exploration sites. Over a career spanning 25 years, John has worked predominantly in Australia and North America in the resource and tenure management, land acquisition and management, government relations, community, and environmental approvals fields.
John commenced with QER in 2002 and has worked in a range of both site-based operational and corporate-based management roles.
John’s experience includes exposure to a wide range of industries and experience across both mining and petroleum production operations, in addition to a Queensland Government regulatory role earlier in his career.
John’s qualifications include an Honours degree in Environmental Engineering from Griffith University, and a Post Graduate Certificate from Queensland University of Technology studying international Business, Managerial Finance and Australian Corporate Law.
Nigel Clements
Site Manager (Gladstone)
Diploma of Business, Certificate IV in TAE, Cert IV Electrical Instrument
Nigel has worked in the Australian resources and energy industry for over 28 years in electrical distribution, alumina production, liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and kerogen fuels development. He has held leadership roles in commissioning, operational planning, maintenance, and process operations.
After 14 years working on Queensland kerogen fuels from 1998, followed by 7 years in LNG production Nigel rejoined QER in 2019 as the Gladstone Site Manager and Site Senior Executive. Nigel manages QER’s interests in the Gladstone region. He leads development, operation and maintenance of QER’s facilities at Yarwun, with a strong focus on QER’s health, safety, environment and community performance. He is QER’s representative in the Gladstone regional community.
Nigel has an electrical trade background and was the youngest electrical inspector appointed in the Queensland electrical industry. He has completed studies in management, training and development, and holds a Diploma of Management from the Australian Institute of Management.
In his spare time Nigel is an active member of a local motor enthusiasts club, enjoys riding motorcycles and volunteers for a local animal rescue group.
