PCCC Representative Honoured
Congratulations to Dr Kerry Blackman who last week was honoured by Central Queensland University.
Kerry is a representative of the Port Curtis Coral Coast Indigenous group which includes people of the Baiali, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng and Taribelang Bunda peoples, whose traditional lands include the Gladstone through to Bundaberg areas.
QER has an indigenous land use agreement with the PCCC relating to our Yarwun project area. We have worked with Kerry and the other members of the group for many years and have been very appreciative of their support.
The honour of Doctor of the University was presented by CQU Chancellor John Abbott in recognition of Kerry’s tireless work as a representative of his people and head of the Gidarjil Development Corporation, which provides development and employment opportunities for aboriginal people. The graduation was particularly special in that Kerry’s daughter Cherissma also graduated in Law at the same ceremony.
We warmly congratulate Kerry and Cherissma on their wonderful achievements and wish them every success in their important work.
