The Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines published the current policy regarding the oil shale industry in Queensland.

The policy stated that that the “Development of a well-managed oil shale industry will help Queensland position itself as a technology leader in the sustainable development of a nationally and globally important new industry.”

Announcement of the policy followed an extensive environmental audit of QER’s facility and a Government review process, commissioned under the previous Labor Government and the report can be found here.
