QER once again participated in Gladstone Ecofest this year. It’s a great opportunity for local residents, community groups and industry to come together to celebrate and focus on protecting the beautiful natural environment in which we are privileged to live.
We always enjoy the opportunity to talk to and listen to people from the local community; to explain our project and to talk about what we do to minimise our impacts and protect the environment: air, water, soil and the precious natural resources we are entrusted to develop.
Consistent with this year’s theme of environmental restoration, QER ran a competition in which people were asked to guess which of two photos showed a restored area and which showed a natural bushland area. Less than half the participants guessed correctly, reflecting the high standard of environmental restoration which is hallmark of QER’s work. Successful guesses were entered into a draw and one lucky family won a weekend away at beautiful Heron Island.
The day was a great success and we want to thank the Gladstone Regional Council and all those involved in making Ecofest 2021 a highlight of the Gladstone Calendar. We are already looking forward to next year.
